Robert is a Postdoc currently working at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, California. He grew up in East Germany and studied physics in Rostock, Germany, and Luleå, Sweden, from 1997 to 2003. He got his PhD in Materials Science from Montanuniversität Leoben, Austria, in 2007. After his PhD he continuied working in Leoben as a Postdoc in the field of hard coatings. In 2011 he received a Schrödinger Fellowship from the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) to join the Plasma Applications Group at Berkeley Lab where he works on plasma diagnostic and plasma-cathode interaction.
